Let’s Talk

In the wake of the recent release of the McCarrick Report, we know that many Catholics are struggling with these painful new revelations about sexual abuse and leadership failures in our Church.

Awake Milwaukee believes that people of faith need opportunities to process this news together, so we have hosted several online small group conversations on this topic. These discussions, facilitated by Executive Director Sara Larson, have offered a safe, supportive, confidential space for Catholics to have an honest conversation grounded in faith.

** We have already had three wonderful conversations, which have included survivors, their family members, lay ministers, advocates, and concerned Catholics from around the country. We are now gauging interest for more conversations in the near future. If you would be interested in joining a discussion, please complete the form below and we will be in touch if we schedule another gathering! **

Possible time options are:

  • Friday, November 20, 10:00am – 11:30am
  • Sunday, November 22, 1:00pm – 2:30pm
  • Monday, November 23, 7:30pm – 9:00pm

Come learn a little something about the contents of the McCarrick Report and the responses of survivors, share your own feelings and reactions, and talk about how we as Catholics can respond with compassion and courage.

You are welcome to attend just to listen, even if you don’t feel ready to share your own thoughts. Groups are open to Catholic adults in the Archdiocese of Milwaukee and beyond.

Please register at this link to receive the Zoom link for participation if we move forward with another group. If you have questions, feel free to contact Sara at saralarson@awakemilwaukee.org.

Thank you!
