Courageous Conversations

Awake Milwaukee has hosted ten powerful and informative Courageous Conversations, our online speaker and discussion series created to build community, deepen understanding, encourage conversation, and inspire action in response to the complex issue of sexual abuse in the Catholic Church.

Our third season of Courageous Conversations began in September 2022. You can view all of Awake’s past Courageous Conversations on the Conversation Recordings page.

The January conversation, Family Matters: How Abuse Wounds the Loved Ones of Victim-Survivors, will feature family members of victim-survivors, including Jerri von den Bosch, a member of the Awake Leadership Team and Board of Directors, who is the daughter of a clergy abuse survivor; Letitia Peyton of Tentmakers of Louisiana, whose teenage son was abused by their parish priest in 2015; and Peter Schiessl, whose wife is a victim-survivor of clergy abuse as an adult.

Mark your calendar for future Courageous Conversations:
March 2 and March 9, 2023
May 4 and May 11, 2023
